Step #2: Postsecondary education requirements

During your postsecondary study, you should enroll in a bachelor’s degree program such as radiography (diagnostic radiography) or radiography (radiotherapy and oncology). With this three years degree, you’ll undergo a mix of study and clinical placement to learn theories and practices. Before applying for the course, check the accredited programs. The Health and Care Professions Council is in charge of that. Lastly, the therapeutic or diagnostic radiographer integrated degree apprenticeship route can be used. With that, you’ll be able to combine work with studying part-time.

Step #3: Certification Process 

In most states, you must collect an X-ray tech certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to become a Certified X-ray Technician. After completing your formal X-ray technician education, you can also get MRI certification through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). Becoming a member of the Society of Radiographers would be best before applying for jobs. Please note that you must register as a practitioner with the HCPC too.
